The area is 18 km east of Hamburg at an altitude of 27  m above sea level. NHN and roughly covers the area between Schönningstedter Strasse , Kampstrasse , Klaus-Groth-Strasse and Schützenstrasse .

history

Around 1870 Johannes Prahl from Ohe acquired land on both sides of Schönningstedter Strasse and set up a restaurant on the northern edge of the Reinbek community. He called it "Schützenhof" because he set up a shooting range west of the street or the path.

Prahlsdorf includes the residential development between Schönningstedter Strasse, Kampstrasse, Schützenstrasse and Klaus-Groth-Strasse. The Prahlsdorfer Weg runs right through it. This part of the Reinbek community was popularly known as the “Red Republic” before the war, because as a predominantly workers' settlement it had a large proportion of communists.

There were already a few houses on the right-hand side of Kampstrasse when construction began on Prahlsdorfer Weg in 1934 on Pulsschen Koppel. Haulage contractor Hans Puls offered five “large” and just as many “small” houses in standard construction. The architect of this first settlement section was Emil Simon. All streets were sandy paths, the footpaths were bordered on one side by trees, and between Schützenstraße and Prahlsdorfer Weg there were only fields. Here the grain grew or there were still cows in the pasture.

A few years later, 20 massive, simple residential buildings followed between Schützenstrasse and Prahlsdorfer Weg; The architect was Distel from Bergedorf. In 1938 this settlement area was rounded off and completed with the construction of 8 houses in homestead construction with the support of the municipality.

Since, with the original size of the property, building "in the second row", which is customary later, was usually not possible, the characteristic settlement structure of Prahlsdorf was largely preserved for a long time. But the high real estate prices and the generation change are now also bringing noticeable changes in this part of the city as a result of denser development.
