The Praktica BMS is a semi-automatic reflex camera of the Praktica B series from the manufacturer Pentacon from Dresden . It is identical to the Praktica BM , but in contrast to this one has a self-timer.

production

The production took place in the GDR , many cameras were exported worldwide, also to third countries outside the socialist countries. Because of their good price / performance ratio at a low price, these cameras were in demand worldwide as consumer goods.

From March 1989 to December 1990 approx. 138,000 copies of the BMS were built, of the BM approx. 11,000 copies were produced from December 1989 to June 1990.

Identical to Revue BC 2

Some of the BMS models produced in 1990 were traded as Revue BC 2 under the label " Revue ", a private label of the mail order company Quelle .

technical features

  • manually adjustable times: 4, 2, 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1 / 250,1 / 500, 1 / 1000, mechanical fixed time 1/60 second
  • Exposure metering: tracking metering
  • Praktica bayonet connection, EDC (electronic aperture control) for TTL exposure measurement using a silicon photo element
  • Film speed adjustable from ASA 12 - 3200
  • Exposure correction adjustable by +/- 2 f-stops
  • Pentaprismic viewfinder with 95% field of view, three-way focusing option through sectional image, micro prism ring and ground glass, red LEDs to display the selected (flashing) and measured (constant) exposure time
  • mechanical self-timer, approx. 8s
  • Hot shoe, flash readiness display with green LED
  • Image counter resets when opening the rear wall, no release lock when the rear wall is open
  • 4 × LR44 battery (V 28PX, 6 volts)

The internship BMS does not have an automatic exposure setting such as B. the Praktica BC 1 , the times are generated electronically as with the Praktica BCA , but must be set manually. Only the flash sync time of 1/60 s is generated mechanically and works without a battery. There is no connection option for the motor winder and no coaxial lightning connection. A rarer model variant of the BMS has instead of the red colored LEDs to display the exposure time.
