The Prešov Tunnel (Slovak Tunel Prešov ) is a 2244 m long two-tube motorway tunnel under construction in eastern Slovakia near the third largest Slovak city Prešov , on the D1 motorway , Prešov-západ-Prešov-juh section. It is located southwest of the city of Prešov and forms the heart of the so-called western bypass, which is intended to carry the transit traffic from Žilina and Bratislava towards Košice and Ukraine and thus relieve the city.

The official start of construction was in June 2017, the actual tunnel work began on July 31, 2018 and the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NÖT) is used. From the beginning, two tubes will be built, each 7.5 m wide and eight cross connections. The ceremonial breakthrough of the first tube took place on June 13, 2019 in the presence of Minister of Transport Árpád Érsek .

The planned completion date and traffic opening is June 2021.
