Preben Knuth

Count Preben Georg Viggo Julius Knuth-Winterfeldt (born November 29, 1906 in Frederiksberg ; † October 27, 1996 ) was a Danish painter.

Life

Knuth's father was the prime lieutenant and office manager Viggo Christian Knuth-Winterfeldt, his mother was Clara Augusta Ingeborg Knuth-Winterfeldt, née Grüner. On his father's side, he came from the Knuth-Winterfeldt family, a branch of the Mecklenburg-Danish noble family Knuth . His brothers were the diplomat Kjeld Gustav Knuth-Winterfeldt and the chemist Eggert Christian Knuth-Winterfeldt , and he also had an older sister, Xenia.

Knuth was trained at a technical school, from 1923 to 1929 he studied at the art academy, from 1927 to 1928 he made a study visit to Paris .

Knuth mainly painted landscapes and people, including commissioned work. Some of his works are in the Fuglsang Art Museum , others in the Jorn Museum or belong to the Academy Council of the Royal Academy for the Fine Arts .
