Precious Bryant
Precious Bryant (actually Precious Bussey , born January 4, 1942 in Talbot County , † January 12, 2013 in Columbus ) was an American blues musician .
Live and act
Bryant comes from a musical family and was taught by her uncle, the blues musician George Henry Bussey. She married in 1965 and raised her child. During this time, Bryant was first recorded by the ethnomusicologist George Mitchell. In 1993 he was able to persuade her to perform at the Chattahoochee Folk Festival in Columbus, where she had an enthusiastic audience. Encouraged by this, she began to appear first regionally, then also nationally and internationally at festivals and clubs.
In 2002 her debut album Fool Me Good was nominated for the Blues Music Award in two categories (Acoustic Blues Album of the Year; Best New Artist Debut). In France it was awarded the Prix Big Bill Broonzy . In 2006 she was nominated for Traditional Blues Female Artist of the Year .
