Preem Petroleum AB (from English preeminent , German roughly “excellent”, “unsurpassed”) is Sweden 's largest mineral oil company.

The company emerged in 1996 from the industrial company OK Petroleum . Preem operates two refineries (Preemraff Lysekil and Preemraff Göteborg ) and a lubricant factory in Gothenburg. It is owned by Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi (Saudi Arabia / Ethiopia). The company maintains its own network of filling stations with around 470 filling stations for private individuals and 215 filling stations for heavy goods vehicles and in 2007 had a market share of between 10 and 20%.

Preem covers around 80% of Sweden's refining capacity, which is around 30% in the Nordic countries . 60% of production is exported .
