Preston Lodge

The Preston Lodge is a villa in the Scottish town of St. Andrews in the Council Area Fife . In 1972 the building was included as an individual monument in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

description

Preston Lodge was built in 1623, but it was probably largely rebuilt in a later century. The city villa is owned by the Crown and was available to the Ministry of Labor.

The three-storey villa is located on the main road Cupars ( A91 ) in the center of the village. The Preston Lodge has a quasi-square floor plan. Flat corner projections emerge on the south-facing main facade . The windows there on the first floor are pilastrated , those of the second are framed with ornament. The central main portal is designed in a Doric style. In the historically particularly interesting interior there is a prominent balustrade along a staircase and an open fireplace with Corinthian columns in the dining room.
