The Preston Point is an ice-covered headland off the coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . In the Amery Ice Shelf , it marks the northern end of Gillock Island .
The American geographer John Hobbie Roscoe (1919–2007) mapped it using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy as part of Operation Highjump (1946–1947). Roscoe named the headland after John C. Preston Jr., a crew member on the reconnaissance flights during this operation between 14th and 164th degrees east.
