description

The graceful light-eyed potlet reached a length of 5 to 6 cm. His body was elongated and a little compressed. The number of dorsal rays was 7 to 8, the anal rays 9 and the rows of scales on the lateral line 8 to 32. It was dark olive on the top and white on the underside. Each scale had a light border that formed side strips along the rows of scales. The caudal fin had a black tip. In the center of the tail stalk was a distinctive narrow dark ray that was more pronounced in the male than in the female. The iris was black.

He lived in the Río Motzorongo and Río Refugio , two tributaries of the Río Papaloapan in the Mexican state of Veracruz .

die out

Its extinction is believed to be due to introduced fish species and habitat loss. It was last detected in 1982.
