Pride of Nations is a turn-based strategy game set in the colonial days of the 19th century. The player takes control of a country and guides it through industrialization as well as the conquest and colonization of distant lands. The game covers the period between 1850 and 1920.
Pride of Nations is a global strategy game like the games Europa Universalis and Victoria developed by Paradox . Playable countries are: USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Japan, Russia, Austria-Hungary, Italy, Turkey and Belgium.
Gameplay
The game deals with technological progress, domestic and foreign policy and colonization within the framework of imperialism. Because of the theme, states that have actively colonized are playable. Compared to previous Paradox games, Pride of Nations has expanded diplomacy and improved Artificial Intelligence . There is also a multiplayer mode in the game.

The provinces are shown in plan view on a world map . The game is controlled with the mouse and keyboard.

Bodo Naser from 4Players rated the game with 69%. He criticizes the sometimes too high complexity of the game.
"Despite all the desired complexity, the game unfortunately drifts too often into areas where it becomes unnecessarily complicated."
The English-language game magazine PC Gamer awarded 79 points.
