Princessa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Princessa (actually Mónica Capel Cruz ; born May 18, 1975 in Madrid ) is a Spanish pop singer who was also successful in German-speaking countries at the end of the 1990s.

Life

Mónica Capel Cruz was born into a family of musicians. As a child, she recorded an album that contained Christmas carols. She became known as the voice of the Spanish versions of songs from Disney TV series.

Princessa (1993)

In 1991 the German producer Frank Peterson discovered them on Spanish television, but only two years later did they record their first album. Peterson gave her the stage name Princessa . His wife at the time, Susana Espelleta, wrote all of the lyrics on the album, which were exclusively in Spanish.

Calling You (1996)

In order to reach international buyers, Princessa recorded songs in English for the first time in 1996. However, since they didn't want to jeopardize their success on the Spanish-speaking market, six of the songs were also sung in Spanish and pressed onto the CD. Her musical style was to be assigned to dance .

In Scandinavia and Japan in particular , the album and singles extracted from it were successful. In 1997 the album was released in other countries. Since it was her debut album there, it was named Princessa , like her Spanish-language debut .

In 1997 she appeared on the ZDF chart show Chart Attack with her single Anyone But You .

I Won't Forget You (1999)

In 1998 Princessa's style changed to pop rock . The song Snowflakes was used as the title melody of the soap opera Marienhof and reached the German and Swiss charts as a single. Princessa also appeared on the series. The following two singles and the album I Won't Forget You also made it into the German charts.

All I Want (ta)

After this success, however, Princessa became quieter. In 2005 she released the single All I Want , which is back on the old dance path, but the announced album of the same name is still a long time coming.
