Private Jet Expeditions was an American airline .
history
Private Jet Expeditions was founded in 1989 as a travel club and started with a luxuriously equipped Boeing 727 to typical vacation destinations for Americans. Sometimes machines were also used for ad hoc charters for stars (e.g. to Munich in 1990 for Madonna ). In 1991, Private Jet Expeditions was sold to Apple Vacation to ensure better networking with its Spanish partner Oasis International Airlines .
With the takeover of some MD-83s from Oasis stocks, the company expanded strongly and penetrated the line of scheduled flights. In this area one operated from 1993 from Chicago and Atlanta to Miami, until from 1994 the name Nationalflight was used for these scheduled flights. Scheduled flights were suspended again in October 1994 due to insufficient capacity utilization and on October 11, 1994, the company placed itself under the protection of Chapter 11 . The entire company was sold to NAL Holdings, all four aircraft (three MD-83 and one B-727 ) were taken over by this successor company.
However, after the acquisition, NAL failed to maintain Private Jet Expeditions' customer base. As a result, there were major problems in the utilization of the aircraft, which could only be remedied at short notice by renting out aircraft. At the beginning of 1995 Private Jet Expeditions had to file for bankruptcy and finally ceased operations on March 28, 1995.
Destinations
The vacation destinations were in the Pacific and Caribbean regions. There were scheduled flights from Chicago and Atlanta to Miami , as well as charter in Europe for the Spanish Oasis, as well as ad hoc charter.
