Private television (magazine)

Private television was the title of a weekly television magazine for the WDR in the first from October 5, 1996 to the end of 1997. The program was moderated by Friedrich Küppersbusch .

Private television was structured similarly to its predecessor, the political magazine ZAK . It comprised investigative reports, satirical articles and two to three interview guests per broadcast. It was broadcast live with the audience from a former granary on the banks of the Rhine in Cologne .

The show initially ran for an hour every Saturday after the Sunday Word . The program was later shortened by a quarter of an hour and broadcast on Fridays after the report from Bonn .

Regular components of the broadcast

  • Franz Lambert played the theme song live in the program and music between the contributions.
  • The then sixth division football team Hamborn 07 was sponsored by private television (jersey advertising), for this reason the broadcast always contained a match report from the club.
  • Skits with the politician puppets known from the Hurra Deutschland series were played. The scenes were recorded in the GUM studios in Cologne, each Friday before the actual broadcast, in order to ensure that the daily news was as high as possible. As a puppeteer u. a. the later known Gerd J. Pohl in action.
  • Thomas Wissmann was the "news anchor" of the show.
  • As Alfons, Emmanuel Peterfalvi caught up with the "voice of the people" from the street. He always said goodbye with the words "Salut, see you next week", which, when the continuation of the broadcast was no longer so certain, changed to "Salut, see you next broadcast".
