Prologis, Inc. is a listed real estate company in the legal form of a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and is a global owner, operator and developer of logistics real estate and as such is particularly active in global and regional markets in North, Central and South America and Europe and Asia.
As of December 31, 2016, Prologis owned or had, on a consolidated basis or through unconsolidated joint ventures, shares in real estate and development projects with an expected total area of over 63 million square meters in 20 countries. The real estate company rents modern warehouses and distribution centers to over 5,200 customers, including companies from manufacturing, retail, transport, contract logistics and other companies. Prologis is listed on the New York Stock Exchange on the S&P 500 stock index (NYSE: PLD).
As of September 30, 2013, the company had around 1.7 million square meters of distribution space in Germany. As a long-term owner of industrial real estate, Prologis takes on real estate development and property management for its customers. The seat in Germany is Düsseldorf .
In addition to its activity as a real estate developer, Prologis also conducts market research and publishes it in the form of the "Industrial Business Indicator" and the "Prologis Logistics Rent Index".
The business in Japan is operated by a separate subsidiary, Nippon Prologis, which is also listed as a Real Estate Investment Trust . Nippon Prologis owns 49 properties in metropolitan areas such as Tokyo , Nagoya , Fukuoka and Osaka .
