Psychology for Practice and its predecessor Problems and Results of Psychology were psychological journals of the GDR .

The journal Problems and Results of Psychology was founded in 1961 and was from issue 8, 1963 organ of the Society for Psychology of the GDR (founded on October 19, 1962).

In contrast to the scientific and experimentally oriented magazine for psychology , which was also published in the GDR from 1954 , the magazine gave a broad overview of all directions in psychology. Accordingly, the contemporary sociology-oriented psychology of the GDR was included in both journals until 1990 without being limited to it.

In 1983, problems and results in psychology were replaced by the journal Psychologie für die Praxis , in order to emphasize the practical relevance of psychology. This was preceded by a general criticism of the social sciences for showing too little practical relevance.

In the communication of the national education ministry , the purpose is described as follows: " It offers contributions to the thorough and systematic evaluation and application of psychological knowledge and methods, especially in pedagogical work. It thus supports the acquisition of psychological knowledge by teachers, school officials and teacher trainers. " .

In 1990 the magazine was discontinued and not taken over by any other publisher. The orientation towards the GDR and a lack of professional specifics favored this.

In 1950 a book "Problems and Results of Psychology" by John Karl Flugel u. a. at Klett-Verlag Stuttgart.

Swiss magazine

"Psychology - for practice" was also the name of the bulletin of the Swiss Foundation for Applied Psychology (SSAP), which appeared between 1983 and 1992. This sometimes leads to confusion in references, as some Swiss authors do not include the hyphen.
