Proca
Proca or Procas was a king of Alba Longa in the mythological prehistory of Rome .
He was the son of Aventinus Silvius and is said to have ruled for 23 years. Ovid tells the story in the Fasti that the five-day-old baby almost was suckled by Strigae . But he is saved by the intervention of the Cardea .
If one uses the reigns given by Dionysius of Halicarnassus with a back calculation from the traditional year of the founding of Rome , then this corresponds to the years 819 to 796 BC. He bequeathed the rule to his older son Numitor . But his younger brother Amulius drove Numitor out, killed his son and made his daughter Rhea Silvia a vestal virgin .
