Prochorus
Prochorus is counted in the Acts of the Apostles ( Acts 6.5 EU ) among the seven deacons of the Jerusalem early community . Its name comes from the Greek and means "pre-dancer".
According to tradition, Prochorus was of Hellenistic origin. Peter later installed him as Bishop of Nicomedia in Bithynia ; in the meantime he was active as secretary of the apostle John . After his return to Nicomedia, Prochorus is said to have suffered martyrdom . His memorial is in the Catholic and the Orthodox Church of June 28 .
