Production center for dance and performance
The Production Center for Dance and Performance is an association for the promotion of freelance dance and performing arts in Stuttgart with its own rehearsal and production facility. As a contact point for dancers, choreographers and performers from the independent scene in the Stuttgart region, the production center supports artists and enables productions in the fields of dance and performance art as well as cross-disciplinary projects.
Since September 2010 the production center for dance and performance has been housed in the old rock cellar in Feuerbach . The rehearsal room is a large, listed dance hall from the 19th century.
Founded in 2000, the production center offers over 40 choreographers, dancers and performance artists space for their own and joint projects. Members can use the rehearsal room to work on productions free of charge and receive support with public relations.
One focus of the association's work is promoting young talent. This includes regular professional training and workshops with international lecturers. Together with the association Freie Theater Stuttgart, the production center has been campaigning for a joint venue for independent dance and theater professionals in Stuttgart since 2010.
Together with the Free Theater Stuttgart, the Production Center for Dance and Performance has launched the particle accelerator initiative . With its program, the initiative offers the audience an up-to-date overview of the artists, ensembles and companies in the independent scene as well as their current events.
Performance venues
The production center is a member of the Baden-Württemberg State Association of Independent Theaters. Venues for productions by artists who work in the production center are the production center itself, but also various stages in the Stuttgart region, including the Theaterhaus Stuttgart , the Theater Rampe, the Württembergischer Kunstverein and the Wilhelmspalais Stuttgart.
Festivals
Festivals with supraregional appeal that were and are organized by the Production Center for Dance and its members include the Flamenco Festival Stuttgart , which took place for the seventh time in 2016, and the Tanzlokal - Tanzfest Stuttgart festival sponsored by the Tanzfonds Erbe der Kulturstiftung des Bundes . The production center organized the latter together with the TanzSzene Baden-Württemberg association. a. in cooperation with the Akademie Schloss Solitude , the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museums in Mannheim and the Württembergischer Kunstverein .
Contributors
The production center has over 50 members from the fields of dance and dance education, performing arts, music, theater and visual arts. The board consists of Dr. Clara Napoli and Wolfram Palmer with the assessor Alexandra Mahnke. Isabell Ohst has been the managing director since March 2016.
