The Prohner dam is east of Prohn in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Germany) lying reservoir . It is located about five kilometers northwest of Stralsund .
The oval, poorly structured body of water lies in a shallow, swampy depression and is only separated from the Prohner Wiek by a dam . The lake has a length of 1.27 kilometers and a width of 530 meters and is a maximum of 2.5 m deep. The reservoir has a volume of 1.1 million m³. At the southern end of the dam to the Prohner Wiek is the Prohn harbor.
The much smaller natural Prohner See was cordoned off from the village and estate with a dyke before 1920 (according to the measurement table sheet 1920), probably to avoid flooding. The dike blocked off the Prohner Bach. A wind turbine pumping station was therefore installed. The locking dykes to the southeast and to the Prohner Wiek were probably only created in GDR times and thus the natural lake was converted into a reservoir. The Prohner Bach was thus approx. 0.5 m (according to TK 10 DDR) below the reservoir. In the 1960s, the wind turbines were usually replaced by electric pumping stations. The time of impoundment and the purpose of the facility are not recorded. It can be assumed that water will be stored for irrigation purposes - there is another pumping station northeast of the village.
