Prohner Wiek at Prohn

The Prohner Wiek is an arched bay in the Baltic Sea northwest of Stralsund in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

The Wiek is about 5.2 kilometers long and about two kilometers wide. The eponymous place Prohn is located in the southern part of the bay. To the north of this are the places Klausdorf and Solkendorf on the shore. In the northeast, the bay is separated from the Kubitzer Bodden by the Vierendehlrinne , the fairway to Stralsund . The bay is mostly shallow (up to three meters), only near Prohn and in the Schwedenstrom there are deeper places with more than four meters of water. The Schwedenstrom is a semicircular channel leading through the bay. There are two small harbors near Prohn and Klausdorf .
