Bull and Griffin - Sheets on the cultural and regional history in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was a popular science edition that was published in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

With between 100 and 200 pages of literature, Stier und Greif was published as a yearbook from 1991 to 2011 in 21 volumes. The series of publications was created after German reunification and the formation of the new state from the Rostock , Schwerin and Neubrandenburg districts as sheets on the cultural and regional history of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Since 2017, the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Heimatverband has published “Stier und Greif. Home Issues for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ”with a volume of 96 pages.

Editor and editor

The responsible editor was the folklorist and museologist Ralf Wendt (* 1936), who supervised and shaped the periodical on a voluntary basis for 21 years until he was hired. Over 300 authors were represented at Stier und Greif . The print run was 900 until 2007, then only 500 copies.

According to the editorial of the 1st issue, the goals were:

“The geographical framework for the contributions is formed by the landscapes of Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania, (which) merged in October 1990 as a result of a far-reaching historical turning point to form the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania [...]. In close connection with the reflection on the rich historical values, questions of folk culture, tourism, environmental and nature protection, agriculture, forestry and maritime economy, to name essential aspects, will gain special importance for the country. The magazines want to reflect on this development and accompany it in a stimulating way [...]. The publication 'Stier und Greif' is open to all aspects of local history research. She would like to present new things, also represent critical points of view, call for discussion, but also report proven and traditional things, would like to be the mediator and mediator of knowledge about the culture and history of this country in the past and present. "

Organizational and structural problems in the Landes-Kulturbund e. V. and financial constraints, especially in the field of culture in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, led to the discontinuation of the magazine after 2011.
