Project Bandaloop

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Project Bandaloop is the name of an unusual dance project in the USA that combines the elements of climbing and dance. Amelia Rudolph is the artistic director of the formation, which has existed since 1991.

The performances of Project Bandaloop are a connection between dance, climbing , air ballet and ritual elements and always include the place of performance. One project of the troupe, for example, consisted of an 18-day crossing of the Sierra Nevada with air ballet and dance performances over the Tulomne River, another in three-dimensional ballet on various buildings around the world. The on-site performances of the Project Bandaloop are mostly filmed and set to music and then incorporated into a multimedia stage adaptation.

Project Bandaloop performs in theaters , on buildings , department stores , event halls or in the great outdoors. The troupe consists of seven to eight dancers. They have performed at all major dance festivals and have received numerous sponsorship awards and grants for their performances.
