Project Blue Earth SOS ( Japanese Project BLUE 地球 SOS, Project BLUE Chikyū SOS ) is a Japanese anime series, which was published as a 6-part OVA . The series is based on some drawings by the science fiction artist Shigeru Komatsuzaki , which he published in the 1940s.

action

In 1995 a new type of drive, the G-reaction drive, was tested. During this test, the aircraft was attacked and destroyed by rainbow-colored rays, the pilot James reported missing. The two boys Penny Carter and Billy Kimura meet at the Metropolitan train station for five years, where a new streamlined train with the G-reaction drive is scheduled to make its maiden voyage at the same time. Penny points out to Billy that every time a vehicle with a G-Reaction drive made its maiden voyage, it would disappear shortly afterwards. In fact, shortly afterwards the train disappears in a rainbow-colored light in front of the astonished crowd. Billy and Penny then do some research and find out that aliens are about to invade Earth.

Little by little, the two friends discover what the Baguans, as the aliens call themselves, are all about. The brilliant professor Steamson searched the universe for extraterrestrial life and found that apart from humans there was no more life in space. So he cloned the Infabel from his granddaughter Margaret, modified their genetic makeup so that they can withstand extreme environmental conditions and sent them into space. There they got into a space-time distortion, where they spent millions of years, which explains their technical superiority. However, the Infabel have degenerated through the many years in space and have returned to Earth, hoping to stop their dying process here. However, their degeneration is already too advanced for death to be prevented. So all Baguans die except for one who has regressed to a baby. Margaret finally decides to stay with the baby and fly back into space with the planet of the Baguans. In the last scene, Penny, who fell in love with Margaret in the course of events, can be seen searching the universe for the Baguans' planet and thus also for Margaret herself.
