St. Prokulus in Naturno

In Naturns in Vinschgau in South Tyrol there is the church of St. Prokulus (Naturns) with early Carolingian frescoes from around 800 AD on his life and work. These frescoes are considered to be the oldest in the German-speaking area. They probably show, among other things, the bishop Prokulus on a swing and - just as unusual for a Christian church - a dog leading a herd of cattle.

Remembrance day

The feast day of St. Proculus is celebrated on December 9th. On March 23, the church celebrated the feast of St. Proculus, Bishop of Verona, according to the old Veronese calendar.
