history
The club, founded in 1947, became one of the leading basketball clubs in the former Yugoslavia . In 1948 the club was runner-up in the 1st Yugoslav basketball league. Proleter Zrenjanin was able to repeat this success in 1952 and 1955, before he became champion in 1956 and thereby broke the series of 10 championship victories by Red Star Belgrade . In the following season, the club missed the title defense with the 2nd place. This ended the most successful period in the club's history. It was followed by relegation and a longer period in the 2nd Yugoslav League. The club occupies 14th place in the all-time table of the 1st Yugoslav league. Proleter Zrenjanin was first class again in 2009, when he rose to the top basketball league in Serbia (KLS) by winning the championship . The club played there until 2012. Since then, he's back in second class.
