The Promptus is after Suda one of the first alphabetically structured encyclopedias . It was written in Latin by Dietrich Engelhus between around 1420 and 1430 .

Besides the actual encyclopedia (a language dictionary and encyclopedia property) contains the school use targeted Promptus collecting items and smaller "nests".
