Pronfelden is a district of the Spiegelau municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau .

location

The village of Pronfelden is located on the Große Ohe immediately southeast of Spiegelau. The Pronfelden settlement about 500 meters south-east of it does not belong to Spiegelau, but to the municipality of Sankt Oswald-Riedlhütte .

history

“Pronfellden ain ödt, leit bey Reichenperg in dem Walld” is mentioned for the first time in 1395 in the “Urbar Schönberg” from the Salbuch of the Counts of Hals . For a long time the place remained a wasteland , but because of its location on the pass it had a certain military importance, as an order of the care administrator for the closure and occupation from the year 1641 shows. The only property was subordinated to the Bärnstein caste office .

When the communities were formed in 1818, Pronfelden joined the community of Sankt Oswald. Pronfelden and his estate are shown on the "original cadastre" from 1820. In 1832 the present hamlet had 24 inhabitants and in 1868 it had 26 inhabitants. The writer Paul Friedl was born in Pronfelden on May 22, 1902 . To the doctor Dr. Alois Geiger , who was executed in 1943 for undermining military strength and treason, is remembered on Dr.-Geiger-Strasse. Pronfelden only came to the community of Spiegelau in 1978 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
