Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics usually with Propellants Explos. Pyrotech. abbreviated, is a monthly peer-reviewed - journal . The PEP , as the magazine is usually called in professional circles, was founded in 1976 by Hiltmar Schubert , then director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT) Pfinztal, as the successor to the one at Erwin Barth Verlag (first Mannheim, later Neustadt ad Weinstrasse) Purely German-language magazine Explosivstoffe , published between 1953 and 1975 , founded together with Verlag Chemie / Weinheim . It has been the official organ of the International Pyrotechnics Society since 1982 and is published by Wiley-VCH Verlag . The articles published in the journal deal with the entire field of explosives , i.e. they deal with explosives , propellants and pyrotechnics . In addition to the scientific articles ( full papers ), the PEP is also devoted to reviews and book reviews .
The journal's highest impact factor (IF) to date was IF = 1.908 for 2016. Currently (as of 2018) the IF = 1.544. In the statistics of the Science Citation Index , the journal was ranked 30th out of 70 journals in the category of applied chemistry .
