The publishing house Wiley-VCH in Weinheim an der Bergstrasse bundles publishing activities in various business fields of natural and engineering sciences as well as economics. He publishes for the scientific community, for scientific societies and for researchers, practitioners and students around the world. The supply of information to science, technology and business takes place in various forms as books, magazines, databases, online publications and services. The company is a subsidiary of John Wiley & Sons . In 2010, sales amounted to about 100.2 million euros , in 2016 the turnover was already about 132.8 million euros.

history

The publishing house was founded in 1921 as Verlag Chemie , for which the abbreviation "VCH" stands, and was a joint establishment of the German Chemical Society , the Association of German Chemists and the Association for the Protection of the Interests of the Chemical Industry. In the following decades he was mainly active in the fields of chemical literature , materials science, physics, technology, medicine and biosciences. Since 1996 he has been part of the worldwide publishing group John Wiley & Sons , Inc., based in Hoboken , New Jersey . The focus of his publications lies in the areas of teaching, scientific research and industrial development. The publisher has been publishing a German-language business and non-fiction program since 2001, and the German editions of the Für Dummies series since 2005 .

The publishing group also includes Ernst & Sohn (civil engineering and architecture) in Berlin , GIT Verlag in Darmstadt and Helvetica Chimica Acta in Zurich .
