The provost Johannesberg gGmbH training in Restoration and Old Building renovation is a training facility for all in historic preservation and renovation of old buildings people. It was founded in 2001 and is based in the Johannesberg provost near Fulda .

history

The Propstei Johannesberg as the seat of Propstei Johannesberg gGmbH is a medieval monastery from the 9th century founded by the Fulda abbot Ratgar and expanded by Rabanus Maurus . In the middle of the 17th century the monastery was converted into a provost house. In the 18th century, during the tenure of Provost Conrad von Mengersen, the baroque redesign, in which important Fulda court craftsmen participated. The building history and restorations of the provost's office are outstanding objects to be shown and, together with the functional workshops and the well-equipped seminar rooms, offer the best conditions for fruitful, joint learning.

Buildings and workshops

The training facility is located in the stables of the Johannesberg Provost. It has a carpenter's workshop, a painter's workshop, a carpenter's workshop and a forge, as well as an inner courtyard with open spaces for the execution of handicraft techniques outside of workshops. Three seminar rooms with state-of-the-art technology are available for theoretical lessons.

Seminars

Practical seminars

One to five-day practical seminars are aimed at restorers, craftsmen or specialists, depending on the topic. Craft, restoration and renovation techniques are presented, practiced, tried out and implemented.

Technical seminars and conferences

One to two day events with a predominantly theoretical focus. These seminars serve to build networks and to exchange ideas between monument preservationists, building officials, planners and craftsmen.

WTA seminars

One to two day seminars in cooperation with the Scientific-Technical Working Group for Building Preservation and Monument Preservation e. V. ( WTA )

Cooperations

The training facility is advised and supported by the State Office for Monument Preservation Hesse , the Chamber of Architects and Town Planners Hesse , the Chamber of Engineers Hesse , the working group of the Hessian Chambers of Crafts , the State of Hesse and the City of Fulda .

In cooperation with the Ferdinand-Braun-Schule in Fulda, the Propstei Johannesberg gGmbH trains technicians. In the two-year technical college training, the qualification to become a state-certified paint and varnish technician with a focus on design and monument preservation is acquired.

Voluntary year in monument preservation

The International Youth Community Services Association (ijgd) organizes the volunteer year in monument preservation as a project “Jugendbauhütte” through the German Foundation for Monument Protection . The ijgd support this volunteer year pedagogically with personal advice and job search as well as seminar work. One possible place of work is the Johannesberg provost's office.
