The Protestant Church (French Église Protestante ) is a church of the Lutheran Protestant Church of the Augsburg Confession of Alsace and Lorraine in Mulhausen ( Bas-Rhin department ) in France . The church has been classified as a Monument historique since 1935 .

history

The church, which was probably consecrated to St. Brigitta until the Reformation was introduced after 1545 , was first mentioned in a document in 1371. The preserved massive Gothic choir is dated to the 14th century. In its massive forms, the two small round windows now walled up in the east and the lancet windows , it still looks more like a work of the late Romanesque or the transition style to the Gothic.

The nave, rebuilt in the 18th century, was destroyed in the war winter of 1944/45. Tower and nave were rebuilt in modern forms in 1957, the choir was restored in 1962. The original wall paintings there have been destroyed.
