Provesende is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Sabrosa . The community had 310 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Provesende, Gouvães do Douro and São Cristóvão do Douro were merged to form the new municipality União das Freguesias de Provesende, Gouvães do Douro e São Cristóvão do Douro . Provesende is the seat of this newly formed community.
