Prunn is located in the Vilstal about three kilometers west of Eichendorf and about 23 kilometers east of the district town of Dingolfing on the state road 2083 at 375 m above sea level.

history

Like other areas in the Vilstal, Prunn is an old settlement area. In 1987, traces of settlement of the bell-cup culture were discovered in an emergency excavation near Prunn . In 1145 an Adalbertus de prunnen appears in the traditions of St. Nikola Monastery . It is unclear whether this is Prunn or Prunn Castle . In the 13th century there are several clear documents, for example Otto von Scheerding bequeathed his court to the Fürstenzell monastery in 1290 at “Prunne bey der Vils”.

In the 15th century the Fraunbergers were wealthy in Prunn, who in the 16th century took turns with the Leiblfingern as owners of Prunn. In 1643 Johann Adolph von Tattenbach acquired the court brands Prunn and Zeholfing for 30,000 guilders and 400 reichstaler. From then on Prunn remained in the possession of the Counts of Tattenbach zu Adldorf . When the community was formed, Prunn became part of the Adldorf community. In 1863 Prunn had 161 inhabitants. Prunn was given a stop on the Aufhausen – Kröhstorf railway line opened in 1915 . With the municipality of Adldorf, Prunn was incorporated into the Eichendorf market on July 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . Ecclesiastically Prunn belongs to the parish Aufhausen . In Prunn there are currently (as of 2016) 183 residents registered, 178 of them with main residence. The place has 70 houses.

economy

The focal points of the industry are the gravel, concrete and asphalt works, a construction company and a sawmill and hydropower plant. Four full-time farmers operate conventional agriculture, one part-time farmer runs an organic farm with suckler cows.

Prunn with its hydroelectric power station on the Vils and 29 PV systems produces around five times as much electricity as it consumes itself.
