Pseudohyperaldosteronism

The pseudohyperaldosteronism is a clinically the hyperaldosteronism similar disease, but without increased plasma levels of aldosterone .
Possible causes are:
- Apparent mineralocorticoid excess
- Deoxycorticosterone-secreting tumors
- Ingestion of large amounts of real liquorice
- Glucocorticoid Resistance
- Congenital adrenal hyperplasia ( CAH due to 11-beta-hydroxylase deficiency and CAH due to 17-alpha-hydroxylase deficiency )
- Liddle Syndrome
- Medication with carbenoxolone
- Pseudohyperaldosteronism type 2 (gain of function mutation of mineralocorticoid receptor)
Differential diagnosis
Other forms of hyperaldosteronism must be distinguished .
