Antonín Bartoň (born December 12, 1908 in Vysoké nad Jizerou ; † September 9, 1982 there) was a Czechoslovak Nordic combined skier, cross-country skier and ski jumper. He took part in the 1932 Winter Olympics for Czechoslovakia .

Career

In 1930 Antonín Bartoň took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo and started there in the Nordic combined and ski jumping. He did not finish the competition in Nordic Combined and in ski jumping he took one of the lower places. He was also part of the team that took part in the military patrol and won the bronze medal there. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberhof in 1931 , he competed in ski jumping and cross-country skiing. In cross-country skiing over the 18 kilometers, he took twelfth place at the same time with the German Willy Bogner and in cross-country skiing over the 50 kilometers in seventh place. In ski jumping he took 21st place.

In 1932 he qualified for the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, USA, and was allowed to participate with five others for Czechoslovakia. At the opening ceremony he acted as the flag bearer. In the ski jumping competition, he took 21st place. In cross-country skiing, he started over the 18 kilometers as well as the 50 kilometers and was able to take 16th and 10th places. But he achieved his best result in the Nordic combined . As the best non-Scandinavian, he finished sixth in the fourfold victory of the Norwegians.

The Nordic World Ski Championships in 1933 became the most successful for Antonín Bartoň. In Innsbruck he won the silver medal in the Nordic combined behind Sweden's Sven Selånger . In addition, he formed with František Šimůnek , Vladimír Novák , Cyril Musil one of two Czechoslovak cross-country skiing relays and this was able to win the silver medal behind the Swedish relay. The last time he took part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1935 in his native Vysoké Tatry . There he took fifth place in cross-country skiing with the Czechoslovak relay.
