from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pseudonitroles are reaction products of secondary nitroalkanes with nitrous acid:

Synthesis of pseudonitrols

In contrast, the reaction of primary nitroalkanes with nitrous acid gives nitroic acids .

properties

In the crystalline state, the pseudonitroles are present as colorless dimers, while the intensely blue-colored monomers are present in solution or in the melt.
