Psila fimetaria is a fly from the family of nude flies (Psilidae).

features

The flies reach a body length of 8 to 9 millimeters. They have a reddish-yellow colored body. The few existing bristles are black. Their wings are transparent. As with all species of the genus Psila , the males do not have thickened thighs ( femora ) on the hind legs and the females only have a simple laying pipe. In contrast to the very similar Psila merdaria , the attachment point of the arista on the antenna of Psila fimetaria is darkened.

Occurrence and way of life

The animals occur in Central Europe and colonize the herb and shrub layers. The adults are not very active.
