Pterodon was a Czech game developer . The company was founded in 1998 by Jarek Kolář and Michal Janáček. It made PC games and was best known for war games . The company worked closely with the Gathering of Developers Company and Illusion Softworks , which it merged with in 2006. In 2008 Illusion Softworks was bought up and renamed 2K Czech .
Back in 2000, Pterodon released the first game that was developed together with Illusion Softworks, Flying Heroes . The game engine was called the Ptero engine . In the middle of the first decade, Pterodon made a name for itself primarily through war games. The Vietcong 3D shooter , whose theme was the war in Vietnam , and its successor have sold over a million times.
The company's logo was a pterosaur , presumably a pteranodon .
