Ptinella aptera is a beetle from the family of dwarf beetles (Ptiliidae). It is the most common type of the genus in Central Europe.
features
The beetles reach a body length of 0.6 to 0.65 millimeters. The top of their body is shinier than that of the closely related species. The head is slightly narrower than the pronotum . This is a little less than twice as wide as it is long. Its sides are weakly sloping towards the rear corners that end in a sharp corner. The females do not have compound eyes .
Occurrence and way of life
The species is common in Europe, including the Canaries and the Caucasus . The species is only locally distributed in Central Europe and is not common.
