history

The foundation goes back to the 1964 approval by the Federal Council to introduce television advertising in Switzerland. Corresponding directives and framework conditions were issued for this purpose, and on July 3, 1964 the “AG für das Werbefernsehen” (AGW) was founded with its headquarters in Bern. The task of the company, which started out with 16 employees at the time, was to acquire television advertising for the programs of the then Swiss Radio and Television Company (SRG). The first commercial aired on February 1, 1965 at 7:25 p.m. on SF DRS , TSR and TSI . The advertising time at that time was limited to 12 minutes a day, divided into four advertising blocks, with the broadcast between 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Sundays and public holidays remained ad-free.

Over time, the advertising times were relaxed and the advertising opportunities expanded, with which the AGW developed over the years into a marketing organization with various cross-media advertising and sponsoring offers. In 1994 the AGW was renamed publisuisse. Today publisuisse contributes around a sixth to the total income of SRG SSR.

The new company Admeira emerged in 2016 from an entrepreneurial initiative by Ringier , SRG and Swisscom . This company is the Swiss answer to digital change and the resulting new needs of the Swiss advertising industry.

The cooperation includes the establishment of a stock corporation, in which all three companies each hold a third. Swisscom and Ringier will contribute their advertising activities, their advertising inventory and their marketing organizations to the joint venture. SRG integrates its marketer publisuisse into the new company.
