Field of activity

The activities include the three business areas of plant construction , service and facility management .

The area of plant construction , in which almost three quarters of the total turnover is generated, includes consulting and planning as well as the implementation and renewal of technical systems.

The Service division deals with maintenance and inspection, troubleshooting and repairs, as well as operational optimization.

Facility management includes the management including administration, maintenance and cleaning of areas, service centers, leisure facilities, industrial companies, infrastructures and production facilities as well as the supply of data, electricity, cold, light, air, process media, heat and water. In addition, various services related to the management, operation and monitoring of the infrastructure are offered.

history

The company has its roots in the “Sulzer Brothers” founded in 1834. In 1967 the previous “Heating and Ventilation” department was restructured into the “Heating and Air Conditioning” group and in 1988 into the independent “Operating and Building Technology” group.

Sulzer Infra

With the creation of six corporate divisions in 1990, Sulzer laid the foundations for the centralization of all activities in the field of industrial and building technology. In the following year, the branches and central offices of this division were merged to form “Sulzer Infra (Switzerland) AG” and a uniform appearance was created.

At its peak in 2000, Sulzer Infra was one of the leading European providers of technical and infrastructural services for buildings and industry with over 5,500 employees and sales of more than 1.5 billion Swiss francs. Almost 90 percent of sales were generated in the core markets of Germany (27%), Switzerland (26%), Great Britain (24%) and Spain / Portugal (10%).

Axima

In April 2001, Sulzer Infra and its three core activities were sold to Groupe Fabricom, a Belgian subsidiary of the French Suez Group, and from then on operated under the name Axima. While the foreign activities of the previous Sulzer Infra as separate national companies (in Germany the Axima GmbH ) were split off from the Swiss parent company under the umbrella of Suez, in 2003 the Swiss Axima companies were merged to form Axima AG. As a result, the Swiss company Axima made several takeovers and continued to expand its activities in Switzerland. Axima has been operating under the name Cofely in Switzerland since September 1, 2009. The French parent company Engie is thus creating a uniform brand across Europe.
