Pullen Island is a snow-covered, 8 km long and up to 495 m high island off the Black Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is near the center of Violante Inlet .
Scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) discovered it during an overflight on December 30, 1940. It is named after William Arthur Pullen (1902–1990), who was involved in this research trip as an aircraft engineer on East Base .
