Pump It is a song from 2005 by the Black Eyed Peas . It was released on their album Monkey Business . The song was also released as a remix called Pump It Harder for the Deluxe Edition of the fifth studio album The END . Pump It quotes the Dick Dale song Misirlou (known from Quentin Tarantino's film Pulp Fiction ).

When will.i.am was in Brazil to produce a CD, he came across a record with the Dick Dale song Miserlou . At first he was angry because she wasn't what he wanted to buy, but then he decided to make a song based on the song. He produced the beats and flew with the band to Tokyo to record the song.

Music video

The music video shows the Black Eyed Peas competing and fighting with a gang in a parking garage. It is the second most successful video from the Black Eyed Peas, only surpassed by The Time (Dirty Bit) . It has been viewed over 380 million times on YouTube .

Commercial win

Before the single was officially released, the song reached number 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2005 . This was mainly due to the number of downloads due to Best Buy ads. After the official Airplay release, it reached 18th place in March 2006 and also landed in the charts in other countries. The single was released on February 14, 2006 in the US and on March 13, 2006 in the UK. It has been sold over 20,000 times in Brazil , over 200,000 times in the UK and over 1.39 million times in the US.
