The Żar pumped storage power plant ( Polish Elektrownia Porąbka-Żar ) is the second largest Polish pumped storage power plant .

technology

The pumped storage power plant, which was built from 1971 to 1979, can deliver an output of 500 megawatts for 4.0 hours in turbine operation and absorb 540 MW in pump operation for 5.5 hours. The Jezioro Międzybrodzkie reservoir serves as the lower basin , the upper basin was built on the Żar mountain of the same name .
