The Johanneszeche pumped storage plant (also known as the pumped storage power plant on the Osser ) was a pumped storage plant planned by DSW Solar 14 GmbH & Co. KG , a Vispiron Group company, on the Osser in Markt Lam ( district of Cham ).

history

In February 2014 the existence of a feasibility study by the Vispiron company on a pumped storage plant on the Osser became known and confirmed by the company. In March the first resistance was formed in an action alliance and the Bund Naturschutz announced “concentrated resistance” in May. On July 2, 2014, the action alliance handed over 6,700 collected signatures against the project to the regional president of the Upper Palatinate. Vispiron initiated an "advisory board" at the same time. The regional planning process began on July 17, 2015. A referendum was held on July 26, 2015 to sound out the mood among the population. Here, 85% of those who voted spoke out against the construction. The regional planning procedure was discontinued in August 2015 because the required land was no longer available after the referendum and it was therefore no longer possible to realize it. The company said the project was "on hold". The PSP should store 200,000 MWh per year. The planned investment amount was calculated at around € 150 million.

technology

The volume of the lower and upper basins should each be 593,000 m³. For the lower basin, the plans see the height of the sole and maximum water level as 564.5  m above sea level. NN and 584.5  m above sea level NN before. In the upper basin, the planned altitude is accordingly at 1134  m above sea level. NN and 1162  m above sea level. NN fixed. The turbine house planned a little east of the lower basin in the Engelshütt district is designed for systems with a pump output of 120  MW and a turbine output of 100 MW. With the expected efficiency of 83 percent, together with the storage volume of 593,000 m³, this would result in a storage capacity of 810  MWh . The turbine house and upper basin are to be connected with a 5330 m long pressure pipeline with an internal diameter of 2.4 m. According to the planning, 1470 m of this is to be erected as a steel pressure pipe using mining techniques. 3860 m of the underground pipeline are to be built using an open construction method made of steel or glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP).
