In the superfamily Punctoidea , several families from the subordination of land snails (Stylommatophora) are combined. The superfamily is cosmopolitan.

features

The cases are mostly right-handed and mostly small to medium-sized. The embryonic casing is usually smooth or only slightly ornamented. The juvenile and adult housings, on the other hand, are mostly heavily ornamented with transverse ribs and, subordinate, longitudinal stripes. The opening can be toothless, but it can also be provided with strong teeth. The navel of the case is usually wide and open. There are further similarities in the sexual apparatus, both in the female and in the male part. Like all lung snails, the animals are hermaphrodites.

Occurrence and way of life

The family is spread around the world. They are mainly herbivores and detritus eaters.
