The Punt Ruinaulta ( Rhaeto-Romanic for Rhine Gorge Bridge ) is a pedestrian bridge over the Vorderrhein between Trin and Bonaduz in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, designed by the civil engineer Walter Bieler from Bonaduz .

location

The Punt Ruinaulta is located at the Trin station of the Rhaetian Railway . It was opened and released for non-motorized traffic in November 2010. It is part of a 4 km long hiking trail through the Rhine Gorge on the left bank of the Rhine.

prehistory

Before the construction of the Punt Ruinaulta, the Ruinaulta could only be crossed by the Rhaetian Railway, which operates a section of the Reichenau-Tamins – Disentis / Mustér railway here. Local tourism associations have been striving for a hiking trail through the gorge for a long time and founded an IG Ruinaulta in 1998 .

Technical specifications

The Punt Ruinaulta, covered with square timber and held by steel girders, is 105 meters long. The concrete pillars on both banks have to compensate for tensile forces of 100 tons. Since the cuboid on the left bank of the Rhine is considerably larger than its opposite counterpart and the steel girders therefore do not have their culmination point in the middle of the bridge, the asymmetrical construct appears particularly dynamic.

The investment costs amounted to 2 million Swiss francs.
