Punta Gauthier is a headland at the northern end of Low Island in the South Shetland archipelago .
Argentine scientists named them after François Mathurin Gautier [sic!] (1832–1918), the builder of his expedition ships Français and Pourquoi-Pas? by the French polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot .
