history

FEDARENE was founded on June 8, 1990 on the initiative of the regional administrations of Rhône-Alpes , Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur , Wallonia , País Vasco , Aquitaine and Nord-Pas-de-Calais with the aim of enhancing the local and regional dimension of the Strengthen energy and environmental policy at European level.

The goals of the association are:

  • FEDARENE sees itself as a link between the local and regional authorities and the European institutions. The ultimate goal is to make the voice of the regions and local governments heard at European level and to inform members about relevant European initiatives and policies.
  • Promotion of the exchange of experience and the development of transnational projects: As part of its events and network activities, FEDARENE brings together organizations from all over Europe to exchange know-how, develop European projects and repeat successful initiatives.
  • FEDARENE offers a discussion forum for energy stakeholders and serves not only as a platform for its members, but also for all stakeholders who are committed to the energy transition: authorities, non-governmental organizations, citizens, small and medium-sized companies and financial institutions.
