Pupkulies & Rebecca is a German group that has been active in the electronica and house sector since 2006.

history

While both Rebecca and Janosch Blaul were musically active in different genres in Würzburg , Sepp Singwald was already known in the Berlin indie scene. Janosch began studying in Berlin around 2001 and met Sepp Singwald there. In the meantime, Rebecca gained experience as a singer in hip-hop and jazz projects. It caught the attention of Janosch, from which the formation of the band and the first album, The Way We , emerged in 2006 . The album combines house beats with light vocals. Concerts in small clubs around Berlin will soon follow.

The trio released their second album in 2007, Beyond the Cage , which musically goes much further in the direction of indie and from which the single Save Me is decoupled. The vocals are in French and English and the beats are a bit softer. From then on the band played at concerts and festivals all over Europe and the two members Rebecca and Janosch moved back to Würzburg. Their third album, Burning Boats , was released in 2009 and is proving to be a huge success.

Their fourth studio album under the name Looking for the Sea was released in 2012. The group toured the island of Maio on the Cape Verde Islands in 2013 to record an album with the local musician Tibau Tavares, which combines electronic and traditional Cape Verde music. The trip also resulted in a film entitled Momento - Pupkulies & Rebecca Play Cabo Verde , directed by Steffen Boseckert, which premiered in Berlin and Würzburg. The Tibau album has been available since October 2013.
